Plot: Despite the critical drubbing and box-office failure of King Solomon's Mines (1985), Cannon Films released this sequel two years later, again featuring Richard Chamberlain as adventurer Allan Q...( read more read more... )uatermain and a pre-Basic Instinct Sharon Stone; the result is marginally better than its predecessor, and may please "bad film" fans. This time around, Quatermain is seeking his brother (Martin Rabbett), who has disappeared while on an expedition to locate a legendary white tribe in Africa. Quatermain's search leads him to the title city, which is controlled by evil Henry Silva (overacting with relish). Director Gary Nelson and returning writer Gene Quintano achieve a few more half-hearted laughs here than in its predecessor, and the cast, which includes James Earl Jones and Cassandra "Elvira" Peterson, do their best with the material, but this can't hold a candle to the 1937 and 1950 film versions of King Solomon's Mines. --Paul Gaita

I wasn't sure if I was watching a spoof. I was laughing at the film and fast forwarded the last five minutes because I just didn't care. This film is just not good. I rented it as a joke to see how bad it was and it didn't disappoint. Cheesy effects, with a bad storyline, gets you this.

In the sequel to 1985's King Solomon's Mines, Allan Quatermain (Richard Chamberlain) and Jesse Huston (Sharon Stone) are on a search for Quatermain's long lost brother and the lost city of Gold.

James Earl Jones and Cassandra Petersen also star.

Right. This isn't very good. I really wanted it to be but it isn't. This is the sequel of 'King Solomon's Mines' from 1985 which wasn't half bad, I really liked that one but this does not live up to its daddy at all. Good music and a cool adventurer type in a hat, it should be good. The main character is of course Allan Quatermain. Snappy theme song though.

    Richard Chamberlain does Harrison Ford....NOT!!!!
If you notice during the 1980's ever studio head of studio executive thought that if they could copied the "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" formula and make it there own which was surprisingly funny....Movies like "Romantic The Stone",and
"The Jewel Of The Nile" copied hook, line and sinker for the Indiana Jones films and with good reason. Here with the follow-up to "King Solomon's Mines",we get another dose of silliness as well, this time with Richard Chamberlain as the two-fist explorer Allan Quatermain in the horrid 1987 installment and also the last of this too,
"Allan Quatermain And The Lost City Of Gold",from Cannon Films. Also to point out,it features actress Sharon Stone,in her first-ever feature length film. Here Sharon Stone copies Kate Capshaw and rips off Karen Allen real good. Silly adventure plot that runs no more than 90 minutes,it zooms by very quickly. Only saving grace is Jerry Goldsmith's excellent musical score.
