If there is a movie that a director can make and feel proud of, it is this, especially if this social commentary intrigues and interests you. I find that in narratives, you can create genuine emotions, emotions that can stifle and cut you up. This film did that, I lost all sense of myself watching this. I have nothing to say but to admit this film is utterly marvelous.
Brother and sister from Guatemala decide to seek refuge in the U.S. That's the first part. The second half details their life in that magical city in "the north" called Los Angeles. The last shot is heartbreaking. Well plotted film deservedly won an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
it is said that its not that good movie, poor acting and i donno what, but it was on the 80s, and those ppl were acting 4 the 1st time, i think its a very good story and one should watch it without those "great expectations", I simply watched it, felt like part of it and would like 2 watch it again.

Moving portrayal of Rosa and Enrique, Guatemalan illegal immigrants, as they cross Mexico into the United States. Heart wrenching, painful, and all too real.
1 of the BEST movies Ive ever seen! This film was Very well cast, directed, written and scored... the Metaphors and moving story brought things very close to home... Why isnt this on DVD?!
I don't know. I didn't love it, I didn't hate it. It mainly just confused me. Random head at the end. WTF mate?
This board looks lonely. Be the first to talk about "El Norte" !
